My first blog in honour of International Women's Day!

Well here goes... my first attempt at a blog entry.  Why now?  In truth, I am just getting the hang of the technology involved in this process :) but I thought what better day to express my passion of treating women's health in physiotherapy than International Women's Day!

Just the other day one of my clients stated that she did not envy me in my job; as I am often assessing and treating pelvic and perineal health with sometime complex symptoms and asking sensitive questions and working in sensitive areas.

I took a breath and I then gently explained that I am actually HONOURED and blessed to have been given the opportunity over the past 2 decades to fine tune my practice to be able to help women heal.  No longer should we as women be ashamed or embarrassed about symptoms of pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, incontinence, post-pregnancy blahs or post-baby body.  We now have the education, the research-based technology and the mindset to set a new course for women;  to EMPOWER US  and to alter the health and well being of women young and old.

Who am I? I guess I am your neighbour, your friend and colleague, your "Ottawa Valley- Born" girl, your local physiotherapist. But I am glad to also be your Canadian and American trained expert in all things women's health. What can i help? I can help with your pregnancy pains,  your post-partum questions or conditioning aspirations, your pelvic pain concerns, your bladder and bowel health as well as menopausal complications to name a few...

I am here to help and grateful for it  :)
